Rare Sullivan Banjo!

This is a handcrafted banjo made by the late Bill Sullivan, who was also known for making banjo parts, in his Louisville, Kentucky workshop at the time. It was probably made in the 2000s.
The resonator is a wooden walnut, the neck and rim are mahogany, and the fingerboard appears to be ebony. The construction is meticulous, and the pearl inlays on the head and fingerboard are beautiful and give the instrument a high-end appearance.
In addition to a few dents and light scratches, the resonator has a deteriorated paint film, probably from the strap, and the back of the neck also has a deteriorated paint film from something that may have come in contact with it. The cloth covering the pocket on the neck heel of the resonator is peeling and cracking, and the metal parts are cloudy and dull. However, there is no noticeable damage.
A banjo player's repairman has set up the instrument. The angle has been adjusted by placing rosewood shims between the neck and rim. The neck is in proper condition, with about 80% of the fret height remaining, and both playability and sound are perfect. The sound has a clear grain and warm resonance at the same time.
The 5th string is not nailed. We will nail it for free upon request. Please allow 10 days to 2 weeks for this service. Please understand.
After Bill passed away, his son Eric took over the business and moved the workshop to Alabama, but the current products are not distributed in Japan. Originally, their banjos were only distributed in Japan for a short period of time, so we can say that this is one of the most valuable banjos in Japan. Do not miss it.
