The Maurice 5-string banjo by Iida Instruments, the banjo beginner's best friend!"

During the folk boom of the 1970s, bluegrass instruments such as banjo and mandolin also appeared in folk songs. The visit of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band to Japan also helped draw attention to these instruments. Maurice, who supported the folk boom, also included banjos and mandolins in its lineup. This five-string banjo is one of them. The exact year of production is unknown, but it was introduced in a 1975 catalog as a product with a list price of ¥62,000.
Iida Gakki Seisakusho, also known as Peerless brand, was the manufacturer. At that time, many banjo beginners in Japan were indebted to the products of Iida Gakki Seisakusho.
This model is equipped with tone ring and flange, and can be called a middle class model. The resonator and neck are made of nato. The plating on the metal parts is dull, and the paint on the resonator back and headstock veneer is cloudy, but there are few scratches for the age of the instrument.
The neck is in fair condition, and the truss rod has some room to tighten. The frets are not worn out and the sound and playability are perfect. It has been set up by our banjo picker repair staff. The drum head has been replaced with a new 5-star and the 5th strings have been nailed at the 7th and 9th frets. It is ready to play.
The tone rings are not included, but the tone rings are still in good condition. Even though it has tone rings, the tone is relatively light. This is a good choice for beginners of bluegrass banjo as well as for those who are thinking of introducing it to pop music. The early bird gets the worm!
