This is a Canopus steel guitar created by the late Yasuhiro Kamiya, who used to be a member of Show Bud. Mr. Kamiya worked hard to promote the steel guitar as a builder, player, and instructor.
This guitar has a double neck with 8 strings on the top and 6 strings on the bottom. It must have been custom-ordered. The pickups, bridge, and nut are all fitted according to the number of strings, and there are also 8 pegs on the 6-string side of the head. The two on the tip are dummies. There are two pickups on each neck with a neck selector switch, master volume and master tone controls, as well as a volume control for the front pickup on each neck closer to the body end.
There are dents, scratches, paint peeling and stains, rust and tarnish on metal parts, but there is no noticeable damage. There are no problems with the telescoping function of the legs. There is some rusting on the strings, but we are selling it as-is. We have set the price at a reasonable level to compensate for this. Please understand that we are selling it as-is.
The previous owner played the 8-string neck in B11th tuning and the 6-string neck in Am tuning.
This is a unique instrument with a double neck (8-string and 6-string), but you may use it for practicing or making music without thinking too much about it. The first one to get it is the winner!

「ユニークな8弦と6弦のダブル・ネック・スティール！」

かつてショー・バッドに在籍していた故神谷保弘氏が手掛けたカノウプスのスティール・ギターです。神谷氏はビルダーとして、またプレイヤー、インストラクターとしてスティール・ギターの普及に尽力されていました。
当個体はダブル・ネック仕様で、上段が8弦、手前の下段が6弦となっております。カスタム・オーダー品だったのでしょう。ピックアップ、ブリッジ、ナットはそれぞれ弦の本数に合わせた物が装備されていますが、6弦側のヘッドにも8つペグが付いています。先端の2つはダミーです。各ネックに2つのピックアップが装備されており、ネックのセレクター・スイッチ、マスター・ボリューム、マスター・トーン・コントロールの他、各ネックのフロント・ピックアップのボリュームがボディ・エンド寄りに装備されています。
打痕、引っ掻き傷、塗膜の剥げや汚れ、金属部の錆やくすみが確認できますが、著しく目立つダメージはありません。レグの伸縮機能にも問題はございません。なおコントロール類に若干のガリが認められ、弦にも若干の錆が発生しておりますが、現状販売とさせていただきます。その分、お値段をリースナブルに設定させていただいております。ご了承くださいませ。
ちなみに、前オーナー様は8弦のネックはB11thチューニング、6弦のネックはAmチューニングで弾かれていた形跡がございます。
日本製らしいしっかりとした作り、安定したサウンドが魅力。8弦と6弦のダブル・ネックというユニークな楽器ですが、あまり深く考えず練習や音楽制作用にお使いいただくのもありでしょう。早い者勝ちです！
