This is a Martin OOOO (Grand Auditorium) shape M-38, made in 1990.

This M-38 has a spruce top, rosewood sides and back, and mahogany neck, Ebony fingerboard and bridge, binding on the neck and head, and tortoiseshell pickguard.

The pegs have been replaced and returned to their original state, and the screw holes have been opened. There are some signs of use commensurate with its age (minor weather cracks on the top of the body, color fading, scuffs and scratches, picking marks, buckle marks, ring marks on the back of the neck, scratches, cloudy metal parts, rust on the screws, etc.). The body back crack has been repaired, top binding glued, neck binding glued, head binding glued, bracing glued, neck angle adjusted, refretted, nut adjusted, and the fret board is high enough to play with approximately 1.16mm remaining overall. * No truss rod adjustment.

Fatter than OOO, quaint tone different from dreadnought or OM shape, crisp and powerful bass, and hard core sound.

OOOシェイプよりも胴の厚みは同じで約1インチほどワイドで大きいOOOO(グランド・オーディトリアム)、スケールはOMと同じ弦長を採用、1977年からスタートしたMシリーズのM-38。スプルース・トップ、ローズウッド・サイド＆バック、マホガニー・ネック、エボニー指板＆ブリッジ、ネックとヘッドにもバインディングが施され、べっ甲柄ピックガードを採用しています。

ペグ交換の後オリジナルへ戻しており、ネジ穴が開いています。年式相応の使用感(ボディトップに細かなウェザークラック、色ヤケ、スレや磨きスジ、ピッキング痕、バックル痕、ネック裏指輪痕、引っかきキズ、金属パーツ曇りやネジ類のサビ、等々)が見られます。入荷時にボディバック割れ補修・トップバインディング接着・ネックバインディング接着・ヘッドバインディング接着・ブレーシング接着・ネック角度調整・リフレット・ナット調整済み、フレット山は演奏に問題ない高さがあり、全体的に概ね1.16mm残っています。* トラスロッド調整機能はありません。

OOOよりもファット、ドレッドノートやOMシェイプとも異なる趣きあるトーン、歯切れがよくパワフルな低音、硬質な芯のあるサウンドが特徴的な一本です。
