This is a 1970s G4153 snare drum with the stop-sign badge that was used from 1972-79.
The serial number is 68142, although the detailed year cannot be determined from the serial alone.

At the time, the 4153 was an 8-tension, 14x6.5" model with deep-body separate lugs.
It has a weightiness not found in 5.5", yet it is unique in its dry sustain and firm attack, just like Gretsch.
It has the fatness of a 6.5", but because the shell is from a thinner era, the treble is also well defined, and while it has a thick outline and clear grain, it has a moderately dry and controlled sound that is truly Gretsch.

The switch butt has been replaced with a new one.
There are also some signs of use, such as scratches and pits.
However, the shell itself is still in good condition and has good sound.
It is an old snare, but it is still in good condition and can be used without any problems. This is a 6.5" snare that is tight like a Gretsch and perfect for jazz.

1972‐79年に採用されていたストップサインバッジを採用した70年代のG4153スネアドラムです。
シリアルだけで細かい年式は特定できませんが、シリアルナンバーは68142です。

当時の4153は8テンション、14x6.5インチの深胴セパレートラグを採用したモデル。
5.5インチにはない重厚感を持ちつつもグレッチらしくドライなサステインとしっかりしたアタック感は唯一無二
6.5インチらしい太さも持ちつつも、シェルが薄い時代のもののため、高音域もしっかり出ており、輪郭の太さと粒立ちの明瞭さを持ちながらも、適度にドライにコントロールされたまさしくグレッチらしいサウンドです。

パーツはスイッチバット部が現行に交換されています。
また、全体的に年式相応にピッツ、傷等の使用感はございます。
ただし、シェル自体はまだまだ十分問題なく鳴りも良好。
古いスネアですがまだまだ十分問題なくお使いいただけるコンディション。 グレッチらしくタイトでジャズ系にもバッチリな6.5インチのスネアです。
